New roof and dormer project, West London

This house was built into a Victorian Terrace in the 1960s, but had a flat roof. We built a new roof and dormer thus restoring the streetscape and providing the owner with a large attic room.

Although not a complex job, the work was quite demanding. We initially built a suspended floor using girders which are supported over the existing roof. There was plenty of height in the room and this meant we did not have to remove the existing roof. The trusses were built by hand due to the unusual shape and the project insulated and plastered. The works was completed slightly ahead of schedule and on budget. The Structural Engineer was Pradeep Gupta of Structural Engineering Consultants Limited in Isleworth. The photos show elements of the construction.
